Stipes Report
The start of this race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between Races 1 and 2. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLYING FATE (C Zackey) was slow into stride. b) PEACH MELBA (C Habib), ROSA OSIRIA (S Moodley) and CHAOS QUEEN (C Little) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Jockey S Moodley reported that, shortly after the start, he felt that ROSA OSIRIA was awkward in her action and therefore he did not persevere with his riding on this filly. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) After being slow away CHAOS QUEEN (C Little) failed to muster speed on debut and raced detached from the field throughout. d) FLYING FATE (C Zackey) raced green. e) AMPHITRITE (*A Mosaheb) commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. f) Shortly before the finish line BELLA MAGIC (C F Dicken) took an awkward stride, stumbled and fell, dislodging Jockey C F Dicken. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey C F Dicken proceeded to the weighing room and weighed in, in accordance with the Rules and as a precautionary measure, was advised to consult with the course Medical Officer. g) Jockey S Khumalo reported that WARRIOR ROSE made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) In view of the performance of PEACH MELBA (C Habib) (5.30 lengths, 5/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. i) Apprentice A Mosaheb (AMPHITRITE) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. j) LUTHANDO (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
