Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL INFLUENCER (C Zackey) was restless in the stalls. b) CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h21) b) REFINER'S FIRE (O Noach) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) At the 800m BORN OF FIRE (C Little) was carried outwards by SUPER VIKING (A Domeyer), which raced onto the heels of MONTESSORI (M Yeni) and shifted out. d) BIG DEAL (G van Niekerk) and BORN OF FIRE (C Little) made slight contact on two occasions approaching the 100m. e) Leaving the 100m ZAGREB (C Murray), which was continually held up for a clear run in the straight, brushed the hindquarters of MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) (G Wright) while attempting a narrow run between SUPER VIKING (A Domeyer) and MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) (G Wright). As a consequence, MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) (G Wright) was turned outwards and ZAGREB (C Murray) had to be checked away from the heels of SUPER VIKING (A Domeyer). f) BORN OF FIRE (C Little) was awkwardly placed on the inside of BIG DEAL (G van Niekerk). g) Jockey C Habib reported that CAESAR'S RANSOM took a number of awkward strides in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) Jockey C Zackey reported that ROYAL INFLUENCER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. i) SUPER VIKING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised.
