THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHATEVER NEXT and CHIEF RUNNER jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h57) b) Permission was granted for LUCKY SPIRIT (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) The start of this race was delayed due to a technical issue in the Stipendiary Stewards' boardroom. This was brought to the attention of the Racing Operator. d) PRINCE FLORIAN had to be switched out at the 350m to obtain clear running. e) COASTAL PATH was hanging in from the 250m. f) Jockey K Minnie reported that WHATEVER NEXT took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. g) Jockeys R Fourie (COASTAL PATH) and J Gates (CHIEF RUNNER) reported that these geldings did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) RAVILIOUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised.
