THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	Fair start. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	CAPTAIN FONTANE (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early and middle stages and was difficult to settle. 
b)	SEVEN PATRIOTS (*K Brewer) raced wide around the turn and compounded in the straight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.  
c)	RUSSIAN ROCK (K de Melo) was hanging in, in the concluding stages.
d)	In the concluding stages, GOOD TRAVELLER (D Dillon) was brushed in by JET DARK (S Khumalo) which was switched in to obtain a clear run. 
e)	In view of the performance of CAPTAIN FONTANE (W Kennedy) (8.80 lengths, 5/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.   
f)	Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse SILVER OPERATOR more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (17) Jockey R Fourie struck the horse SILVER OPERATOR, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed.
g)	Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, in that as the rider if SILVER OPERATOR, he used his crop more than three times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.  
h)	SILVER OPERATOR (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer V H Marshall advised (DZ).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)	CAPTAIN FONTANE raced without a tongue tie (advised 07.05.22/5h58). 
b)	CHIMICHURI RUN raced equipped with blinkers (advised 06.05.22/9h38).
