Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN MORISCO (C Habib) stumbled leaving the stalls and was slow into stride. b) REGIMENTAL (R Munger) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) REGIMENTAL (R Munger) hung in from the 300m. b) CAPTAIN MORISCO (C Habib) had to steady when attempting a run into restricted galloping room between CAPTAIN OUPIE (JP van der Merwe), which shifted out marginally away from the crop and GREENLIGHTTOHEAVEN (W Agrella), which hung in from the 200m. c) In the concluding stages ALPHA PAPPA (M Mjoka) was carried in by ROCK GARDEN (X Ndlovu), which rolled in. d) Jockey W Agrella (GREENLIGHTTOHEAVEN) dropped his right-side rein shortly before the finish line, which he failed to re-gather. e) Jockey R Munger appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race with sufficient determination and vigour so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. f) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that ROCK GARDEN did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) NAVAL SECRET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised.
