Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	VISTA NOVA (C Habib) was withdrawn at the start, causing a delay.
b)	KUZNETSOV (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading.
c)	SLINGS AND ARROWS (M van Rensburg) kicked in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a further delay.
d)	PHIL'S POWER (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls.
e)	CELTILLUS (F Herholdt) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates.
f)	KHAYA'S HOPE (JP van der Merwe) jumped outwards and made contact with CRUZADOR (Y Ramzan), which was slow into stride.
g)	CLIFF TOP (R Fourie), BRASS BELL (S Khumalo), JET MIRAGE (J Mphanya) and NARCOS (*J Solomons) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Jockey M van Rensburg reported that SLINGS AND ARROWS, which raced on the inside of the course without company from the 700m, did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 500m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
b)	Jockey S Khumalo reported that BRASS BELL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	Apprentice K Strydom, the rider of PARIS RIX, appeared before the Board and was advised that his crop action, in particular the height of his crop in relation to his shoulder height, had come under notice and that he should take the necessary measures to remedy this situation.
d)	NARCOS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Turner was advised. (LM)
