Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TWELVE OAKS (S Khumalo) and READYSETGLO (N Klink) were slow into stride. b) FANTASY FLOWER (*K A Brewer) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, EDWARD LONGSHANKS (R Munger) and FEATHER THE NEST (K Matsunyane) came together and brushed when awkwardly placed between FANTASY FLOWER (*K A Brewer) which stumbled leaving the stalls and MIDNIGHT GEM (G Lerena) which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with FEATHER THE NEST in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly c) MIDNIGHT GEM (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S Moffatt acting on behalf of Trainer P P Labuschagne advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) READYSETGLO was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 4 January 2022 at 07H31). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MIDNIGHT GEM raced fitted with a pressure halter (declared 30 December 2021 at 10H40). b) EDWARD LONGSHANKS raced without blinkers (declared 30 December 2021 at 08H59). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FEATHER THE NEST scalp wound left hind. b) TWELVE OAKS scalp wound right hind and saddle rub right hind. c) URBAN ROCK abnormal respiratory noise.
