THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEET PEPPER (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KISS ME CAPTAIN (D De Gouveia) which raced with an awkward head carriage, hung in in the early stages, thereafter KISS ME CAPTAIN took a number of awkward strides and commenced to give ground to the field in the concluding stages. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) SWEET PEPPER (C Habib) was baulked for a clear run from the 300m to the 100m. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that SASHAY AWAY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) ALULA'S STAR (*P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S T Pettigrew advised (AH). e) GOBSMACKED (K de Melo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (MS). f) LUCY IN THE SKY, placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
