Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) KARATE KID (R A Venniker) was stubborn loading. And thereafter reared, dislodging the Rider as the start was effected. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer P F Matchett was advised (GT).

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) A race review was called into the start of this race with regards KARATE KID (R A Venniker) in stall gate 11. The Stewards established, after viewing the Patrol films from several angles, that this gelding had been restless shortly before the start and as the gates were released, reared badly and dislodged its Rider in the process. When assessing this incident, the Stewards were of the view that the front gates had opened on terms, that the Handler had released this gelding timeously and that the incident was as a consequence of this KARATE KID's own behaviour and in terms of the provisions of Rule 61.5.10.3 was declared a runner.
b) Jockey R Fourie reported that DREAMLAND took no interest in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.

c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KARATE KID, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 2 March 2025 to 8 March 2025. KARATE KID may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer P F Matchett was advised.
d) WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (MduP).

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) TAXI TO THE MOON was ridden by Jockey A Mgudlwa (declared 27 February 2025 at 10H19).
b) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 1 March 2025 at 16H36).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) EXCHANGE STUDENT raced equipped with blinkers (declared 26 February 2025 at 09H33).
