THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I'LL SLIP AWAY (JP van der Merwe) threw its head down as the start was effected and, as a consequence, lost one length. b) WINTER PEARL (C Orffer), TUSCAN GOLD (K Matsunyane) and POLTERGEIST (R Fourie) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey A Domeyer reported that CHARLIE MALONE failed to respond to his urgings and gave ground to the field from the 300m and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) In view of the performance of NOBLE KINGDOM (S Veale), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) WINTER PEARL raced without blinkers (declared 08h05 on 20221228) b) MR FROSTIE raced with blinkers (declared 15h59 on 20221229) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CHARLIE MALONE - examined post-race.
