Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WELCOME BREEZE (S Khumalo) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) CHERINGOMA (J R Syster) and FIELD OF VISION (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi) was brushed in by OCTOBER FAIR (C Habib), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) Approaching the 1400m, LIGHT OF DAY (M Yeni) and SKYFULL (C Maujean) were awkwardly placed on the inside of JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi), which commenced to over-race. Thereafter, DANCING ARABIAN (R Danielson) was carried out by JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi) which continued to over-race, proving difficult to assist. As a result of this, DANCING ARABIAN (R Danielson) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. c) JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi) hung in from the 200m. d) JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Ncube, acting on behalf of Trainer C Dawson, was advised (LK). e) FIELD OF VISION (K Matsunyane), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TOTO'S DREAM was ridden by Jockey R Munger (declared 17 January 2023 at 14H24).
