THE STARTER REPORTED A) JET MIRAGE was stubborn loading, slow away and lost 2 lengths. B) TSAR PETER was nervous in the stalls. C) NAMAQUALAND was slow away and lost 1length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Apprentice K A Brewer reported that he felt something amiss with NAMAQUALAND in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. B) In view of the performance of JET MIRAGE (W Kennedy) (distance 5.70 - betting 20/11) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer G D Smith was requested to report back on the condition of JET MIRAGE on return to the stables. C) Approaching the 400m, EMPERORS DECREE (*Y Ramzan) ran onto and clipped the heels of ALL THE SEVENS (M V'Rensburg). D) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning NAMAQUALAND (*K A Brewer), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer G D Smith was advised. E) The winner RED BERRY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana acting on behalf of Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) ALL THE SEVENS Jockey M V'Rensburg replaced Jockey W Agrella (07:41 - 14/01/2022). B) JET MIRAGE raced equipped with a compression mask (09:39 - 13/01/2022).
