THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GLOBAL HEART (R Simons) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLOBAL HEART (R Simons) jumped awkwardly making contact with the left-side front gate leaving the stalls. b) At approximately the 1200m, SMART POMODORO (D De Gouveia) was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of DESTINATIONUNKNOWN (G Pieterse), which commenced to over-race, and as a consequence, DIPLOMATICIMMUNITY (C Maujean) was carried out marginally and raced wide and without cover around the turn. c) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that he felt something amiss with SMART POMODORO in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) BRAVE VIKING (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J A Soma advised (MS). e) RAPTOR ISLAND, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP).
