THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TOM'S ACT (T Godden) was hanging in, in the straight. b) EXCEED EXPECTATION (*R A Venniker) was switched in off the heels of BUGSY MALONE (J Gates) at the 350m. c) The left side cheek piece on LORD MINVER (N Patel) became dislodged at approximately the 250m. d) COROMANDEL (S Moodley) was baulked for a clear run between the 250m and the 150m. e) In the concluding stages Jockeys C F Dicken (MAJESTIC POWER) and S Veale (LUCRETIUS) accidentally dropped their right-side reins which were regained at the finish. f) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with LOU LOU THE LEGEND in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) MAJESTIC POWER (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G I Rich advised (HM).
