THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	DESOLATE ROAD (S Veale) was restless in the stalls and stood losing 3 lengths. Trainer A J Rivalland was advised to re-school this gelding (SL).

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Approaching the 300m, DANDOLO (C F Dicken) had to steady when awkwardly placed between PATRONAGE (*R A Venniker) and WAVE WARRIOR (T Godden), which was hanging in from the 400m. As a result of this incident WINTER WAVES (*S Hlengwa) was steadied and switched out off the heels of DANDOLO (C F Dicken) to obtain a clear run.
b)	In view of the performance of PURPLE NKANYEZI (R Khathi) (8.95 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
c)	MAXIUMUS (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (DZ).
