a)	OPENING CEREMONY (R Fourie) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The breastplate fitted to OPENING CEREMONY (R Fourie) was replaced at the start, causing a delay.
b)	WESTERN JACK (K Minnie) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
c)	At the 900m MAYA'S CAT (JP van der Merwe) changed stride awkwardly, shifted in and brushed OPENING CEREMONY (R Fourie). Thereafter MAYA'S CAT (JP van der Merwe) was hanging in in the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine MAYA'S CAT (JP van der Merwe).
d)	At the 600m OPENING CEREMONY (R Fourie) raced onto the heels of TEARDROP (A Arries), was steadied, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of PONDEROSA PINE (S Khathi).
e)	In view of the performance of TEARDROP (A Arries) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f)	FEDERAL RESERVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie, acting on behalf of Trainer SB Kotzen, was advised. (LM)
