Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TWICE TOLD (G van Niekerk) was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay.
b)	BENNELONG POINT (J Solomons) was restless in the stalls.
c)	ALL ABOUT RONNIE (R Munger) jumped with its head up, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
d)	DOWNING SEVEN (K Steyn) jumped outwards.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	HERO'S DESTINY (JP van der Merwe) raced awkwardly with its head up and refused to settle in the early and middle stages, raced wide on the bend and into the straight and was not persevered with from the 400m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
b)	ALL ABOUT RONNIE (R Munger) pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
c)	PROMETTERE (C Orffer) shifted both ways away from the crop in the straight.
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that TWICE TOLD did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of RAINBOW COLOURS (A Domeyer) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	Jockey C Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking PROMETTERE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey C Orffer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey C Orffer used his crop, his recent record and the number of strikes (16). 
g)	INSIDE STORY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (MM)
