THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) L'ULTIMO (S Veale) clipped the heels of WILLIAM RUFUS (K de Melo) and stumbled shortly after the start. b) OH MY WORD ITS ROY (T Gumede) failed to muster speed and gave ground to the field from the 1000m. In view of this report the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performances of WHITE CEDAR (T Godden) (13.50 lengths, 20/1 in the betting), L'ULTIMO (S Veale) (11.80 lengths, 16/1 in the betting) and GENTLEMAN'S WAY (10.80 lengths, 10/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) PARMENION (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (DZ).
