Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TAMBOURINE MAN (C Zackey), OLIVER (K de Melo) and DESTINY'S ANGEL (K Steyn) were stubborn loading, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JACKSWAY stumbled badly leaving the stalls and dislodged Jockey C Bantam. b) Shortly after the start MIGHTY MAC (D Ashby) was carried inwards by RED WILLIAM (A Arries), which jumped inwards and then had to be steadied to avoid the fallen jockey. c) Entering the first turn, at the 1100m, TAMBOURINE MAN (C Zackey) was inconvenienced for some distance while racing behind the loose horse, JACKSWAY. d) RUN FOR ME (R Fourie) was hanging in in the straight. e) BIG POPPA (JP van der Merwe) was momentarily held up approaching the 400m and then had to be directed outwards and into clear running leaving the 300m. f) MIGHTY MAC (D Ashby) rolled in away from the crop at the 250m and had to be straightened. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding OLIVER (K de Melo), Trainer AN Marcus will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding TAMBOURINE MAN (C Zackey), Trainer AN Marcus will be advised to have this colt re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. i) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DESTINY'S ANGEL (K Steyn), Trainer PP Kruyer will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. j) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride STATE OF SHOCK to the finish line to the satisfaction of the Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chance of obtaining fifth place. Jockey O Noach signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2375.00. k) NUMZAAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
