THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	POWER SURGE (JP van der Merwe) jumped outwards.
b)	TARTAN DANCER (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	FLYING PETER (E Webber) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start BRENDEN JAMES (S Khathi) was bumped by POWER SURGE (JP van der Merwe), which shifted outwards leaving the stalls.
b)	CHE VINCERA (W Agrella) raced wide without cover in the early stages.
c)	Jockey L Mxothwa reported that CAN COL, which was hanging in in the straight, took a number of awkward strides. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Approaching the 300m GUNSMOKE (M Thackeray) was carried out marginally by COOL RUNNINGS (Y Ramzan), which shifted out and had to be straightened.
e)	Leaving the 200m TUK TUK (K Minnie) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NKALANZINZI (C Maujean), which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened.
f)	Jockey R Fourie reported that DAMMI did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
g)	BRENDEN JAMES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
