THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAPPY WANDERER (M V'Rensburg) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BLESS ME FRED (*S Hlengwa) was briefly baulked for a clear run at the 200m. Thereafter, in the concluding stages this gelding was switched to the outside of SEA VISTA (T Godden) to continue its run. b) CANDY FOR MY MOMMY (K Matsunyane) took an awkward stride at the 250m. c) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse MCCARTNEY more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse MCCARTNEY, and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. d) SEA VISTA (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (DZ).
