Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TUSCAN GOLD (S Veale) and STELLA ET CLAVIS (J Jacobs) were restless in the stalls. b) SEEKING PEACE (A Arries) jumped outwards, squeezing out FLY TO RIO (G van Niekerk) and KIMBALL O'HARA (JP van der Merwe). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start, Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he had noticed a shoe which was on the course at about the 200m. This was reported to the Race Day Duty Officer, who arranged for the shoe to be located and removed from the track, causing a delay. b) Between the 150m and the 50m FLY TO RIO (G van Niekerk) was carried out by AXL (R Khathi), which was hanging out, shifted out and proved difficult to straighten. c) In view of the performance of TUSCAN GOLD (AE Sands), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) SEEKING PEACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
