THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMORGASBORD (D Daniels) lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SMORGASBORD (D Daniels) jumped out awkwardly, making contact with the left front gate, was slow away, failed to muster speed and thereafter was not persevered with. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer L W Goosen will be asked to report back on the condition of SMORGASBORD on return to stables. b) WAR EMPRESS (S Veale) broke down and was immediately eased out of the race at the 600m. c) KALAHARI ROLLER (*B Plaatjies), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey S Veale was the rider of WAR EMPRESS (advised 26.02.2025/10h32). b) Jockey R A Venniker (claiming 1.5kg) was the rider of WARRIOR OF ROYALTY (advised 02.03.2025/15h39). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) WAR EMPRESS : Broke down left front. Euthanased on humane grounds.
