Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUST BEFORE DAWN (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) BIG POPPA (D Ashby) jumped awkwardly outwards, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. c) HAKAS KRAKAS (S Veale) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 1600m LANDINGONTHEMOON (A Arries) was steadied away from the heels of BEAU KALA (J Jacobs). b) AUTUMN MOON (C Zackey) was continually held up for a clear run in the straight until approaching the 200m. c) Leaving the 400m GIMME THE BEST (C Orffer) was carried inwards by DONDER STORM (K Steyn) and then was momentarily inconvenienced on the outside of DOWNING SEVEN (K de Melo), which was hanging out and rolled out at the 300m. d) At the 150m HAKAS KRAKAS (S Veale) and LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING (O Noach) bumped when both horses were attempting to improve into a narrow run between BEAU KALA (J Jacobs) and JUST BEFORE DAWN (JP van der Merwe). As a consequence, LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING (O Noach) had to be steadied away from the heels of JUST BEFORE DAWN (JP van der Merwe). e) In the concluding stages BEAU KALA (J Jacobs) was awkwardly placed between LEGAL CHITCHAT (L Mxothwa) and HAKAS KRAKAS (S Veale) and became unbalanced at the finish. f) BIG POPPA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
