Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FASINADA (D Schwarz) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) PETIT VERDOT (S Moodley) had difficulty in obtaining clear running early in the straight. c) HATTA (*S Hlengwa) was hanging out in the concluding stages. d) In the concluding stages ROSE PRINCESS (R Khathi) had to steady when awkwardly placed between PETIT VERDOT (S Moodley) which shifted in marginally away from the crop and RUN AGAIN (C Maujean) which was carried out by ANGELIC FORT (A Mgudlwa) which shifted out marginally away from the crop. e) Jockey A Mgudlwa was dislodged from ANGELIC FORT in the pull up area. He was examined by the Course Medical team and transported to the Medical room. This resulted in him being incapacitated from weighing back in. The Board acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. f) At the 250m ROY'S ROCKER (M Yeni) had to steady when momentarily inconvenienced between KILEIGH'S FATE (*R A Venniker) which was carried out marginally by PETIT VERDOT (S Moodley), and SAYULITA (J Gates) g) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse PETIT VERDOT more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse PETIT VERDOT, and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. h) HATTA (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey A Arries was the rider of DUCHESS OF GOLD (advised 03.04.23/08h05). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) DUCHESS OF GOLD : Laceration left stifle. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
