Race 8: NEXT FAIRVIEW RACEMEETING FRIDAY 14 APRIL CLASSIFIED STAKES (For horses with nett rating of 71 and below)

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	JAQUAR CAT (K Steyn) was stubborn loading and jumped inwards.
b) 	CAPTAIN MORNE (M Yeni) was fractious.
c)	STORM CHASER (D Schwarz) and ARVERNI WARRIOR (R Munger) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	CAPTAIN MORNE (M Yeni) was hanging in in the latter stages
b)	Leaving the 50m GLOBETONIC (Y Ramzan), which had commenced to give ground, had to steady momentarily to avoid the heels of RUSSIAN EMPIRE (TM Musekiwa), which closed the race off strongly and shifted outwards away from the crop. In assessing this incident the Stewards carefully reviewed the patrol film from various angles and could not be comfortably satisfied that this incident warranted a penalty of a suspension. Nevertheless, it was the opinion of the Stewards that a penalty had to be meted out under the circumstances as GLOBETONIC (Y Ramzan) had to be steadied momentarily in the interests of safety and avoiding interference in races. Under the circumstances, the penalty of a warning was given to Mr TM Musekiwa (RUSSIAN EMPIRE) and he was advised that the Stewards would not afford him any leeway when it comes to incidents of a similar nature in future. 
c)	Jockey TM Musekiwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of RUSSIAN EMPIRE he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GLOBETONIC leaving the 50m. Jockey TM Musekiwa signed an Admission of Guilt and was given the penalty of a warning.
d)	In view of the performances of MODERN MAGICIAN (JP van der Merwe) and ARVERNI WARRIOR (R Munger) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
e)	Jockey X Ndlovu reported that EL ROMIACHI changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with STORM CHASER. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.

g)	Jockey D Ashby reported that TOUREIRO did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h)	Jockey TM Musekiwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking RUSSIAN EMPIRE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey TM Musekiwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey TM Musekiwa used his crop and the number of strikes (13).
i)	Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking TOUREIRO more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey D Ashby used his crop and the number of strikes (15).
j)	PEDRO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee G Venter, acting on behalf of Trainer TJ Laing, was advised. (SP)
