THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, MIZZEN SAIL (C Maujean) reared in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). b) CALLMEWHENUNEEDME (D De Gouveia) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) WINTER PATH (S Khumalo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MIZZEN SAIL (C Maujean), which raced green on debut, hung in from the 400m. b) CALLMEWHENUNEEDME (D De Gouveia) pulled hard in the early stages. c) Jockey S Khumalo (WINTER PATH) did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey S Khumalo reported that this filly did not stride out freely and made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) RIPPLE EFFECT (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Mayhew-Munger, acting on behalf of Trainer A B Fortune, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CALLMEWHENUNEEDME raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 6 April 2023 at 09H18). b) WINTER PATH raced with a tongue tie on (declared 8 April 2023 at 07H49).
