THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Prior to the running of this race Jockey A Arries was stood down by the course medical officer (dehydration). Rule 25.12 was not applied. b) At the 300m MARSHALL FIELD (K de Melo) had to be steadied when close to the heels of a tiring BEAU KALA (J Jacobs), which rolled out. Thereafter, MARSHALL FIELD (K de Melo) had to be directed to the outside of SAINT SILAS (A Andrews) and into clear running leaving the 200m. c) In view of the performance of FIRST TIME LUCKY (D De Gouveia), which over raced in the early stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of HAKAS KRAKAS (K Steyn) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) DONDER STORM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
