Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	NARINA TROGON (D Ashby) was fractious loading, kicked out and had to be hooded, causing a delay.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	In a slow-run race ADMIRAL DOOLEY (G Behr), HASTA MANANA (M Winnaar) and BLACKBERRY MALT (D de Gouveia) proved difficult to settle. Jockey D Ashby appeared before the Board and was advised that when his mounts are racing at the front of the field, he needs to ensure that he maintains at least a reasonable pace.
b)	NEVADA KING (G van Niekerk), which pulled hard in the early stages, was allowed to race around the field from the 1000m and to the front on entering the straight. 
c)	At the 650m SCALINI (C Zackey) was severely cramped for galloping room and made contact with the inside running rail when racing tight on the inside of MONTIEN (A Andrews), which shifted in sharply when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ADMIRAL DOOLEY (G Behr).  SUGAR MOUNTAIN (A Domeyer), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. In view of this report, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine SCALINI (C Zackey).
d)	The Board have adjourned to review Jockey D Ashby's (NARINA TROGON) previous record with regard to contraventions of Rule 58.10.2 (M).
e)	In view of the report from the starter regarding NARINA TROGON, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 02/05/2023 to 08/05/2023 inclusive). NARINA TROGON may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
f)	SUGAR MOUNTAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (EF)
