THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HALLERBOS (S Khumalo) kicked the back gates, was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) MASTER TOBE (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls. c) EXCEED EXPECTATION (*R A Venniker) and HAPPY ARISTOCRAT (R Khathi) were slow into stride. d) EBONY BAY (*S Hlengwa) and WALTON HALL (C Maujean) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) THUNDER MASALA (T Godden) over-raced in the early stages. b) HALLERBOS (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) FEVER (A Arries) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. d) PASCALI (S Moodley) was hanging in between the 400m and 300m. e) In the concluding stages, JUSTFORTHEEPENNY (M Yeni) and QUICK STAR (M V'Rensburg) came together and brushed. f) EXCEED EXPECTATION (*R A Venniker) was hanging in from the 200m. g) In view of the performance of HALLERBOS (S Khumalo) (6.25 lengths, 9/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) QUICK STAR (M V'Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) FORWARD SPELL raced equipped with a cornell collar. b) MASTER TOBE raced equipped with a tongue tie (advised 23.05.23/10h20).
