THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVANO'S DASHER (K de Melo) was stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start VANDERBILT (D Schwarz) was buffeted between RUSSIAN ROCK (L Mxothwa) and FOREVER MINE (R Fourie). b) BATTLE FORCE (T Godden) over-raced in the early stages. c) At the 200m VANDERBILT (D Schwarz) which had raced prominently and had commenced to give ground, was carried out marginally when close to the heels of AFRICAN SKYLINE (C Maujean) which shifted out. d) In view of the performances of ROYAL VICTORY (S Khumalo) (6.00 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) and AIRWAYS LAW (*R A Venniker) (13.80 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) SILVANO'S DASHER (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
