Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	EXISTENTIALIST (B Nyawo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.	
b)	SILVER MENSA (*M K Katjedi) was slow losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	SILVER MENSA (*M K Katjedi) proved reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be led by a Handler. 
Trainer F Bronkhorst was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended.
b)	When questioned regarding his ride on IRON SKY, with particular reference to why he did not switch in to obtain a clear run at the 300m, Jockey D De Gouveia explained to the Board that IRON SKY was travelling well and was of opinion that if he switched in, he would have to have broken this gelding's momentum in order to switch him in across the heels of SIBERIAN STEEL (C Habib). He had therefore elected to maintain his position and wait for a clear run between horses which, once presented, allowed him to finish his race off strongly. The Stewards advised Jockey D De Gouveia that his explanation would be recorded and that he needs to ride in a manner where all opportunities to obtain the best possible placing are explored and that there is no room for query from the Stewards. 
c)	When questioned regarding his ride on BRONCO BLITZ, with particular reference to the concluding stages, Jockey S Khumalo explained to the Board that after travelling well throughout, this gelding had tired very badly from the 100m and, under the impression that something was wrong with him, he did not persevere with his riding to the line. He thereafter reported that he felt something amiss with BRONCO BLITZ in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 	
	Trainer F Bronkhorst was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BRONCO BLITZ on return to stables. 	
d)	Trainer A P Peter was charged with a contravention of Rule 38.4 in that he failed to update the passport of AXEL COLLINS with respect to Equine Influenza.  
Trainer A P Peter signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.
e)	STORMY SEAS (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Stable Employee J Dhlamini was advised (MduP).

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a)	STORMY SEAS was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 8 June 2023 at 15H02).	
b)	SILVER MENSA was ridden by Apprentice M K Katjedi (declared 8 June 2023 at 15H03).

a)	SILVER MENSA raced with a tongue tie on (declared 7 June 2023 at 09H33).
