THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) EXCEED EXPECTATION (*R A Venniker) over-raced in the early stages. b) Shortly after entering the straight RODRIGUEZ (D Schwarz) made its run on the outside of the course and at the 300m was awkwardly placed for a number of strides close to the heels of RICCARDO (A Arries) which shifted outwards when it received some pressure from VENGEANCE FOREVER (K de Melo), which shifted out slightly to secure clear running. The Stewards, after carefully reviewing the patrol footage from various angles decided that it could not sustain a charge against an individual rider, however felt it appropriate that Jockeys A Arries, K de Melo and D Schwarz be advised that they are obliged to ensure that they allow sufficient room for other riders to ensure clean and fair racing. c) In view of the performance of BARBATTI (6.60 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Moodley reported that HALLERBOS did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) JUSTFORTHEEPENNY (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (HM).
