Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TCHAIKOVSKY (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The Stewards considered a request made by Jockeys after the running of Race 9 to reduce the distance of Race 10 from 1100m to 1000m as they were concerned about an area on the outside of the track where the starting stalls would have to be positioned. After careful consideration and in consultation with the Racing Operator the Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 4.2.18, were of the opinion this would be in the best interest for the completion of the race meeting and the distance of Race 10 was reduced to 1000m. Trainers were afforded the opportunity to withdraw their runners. The Racing Operator disseminated this information at 16h31.
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to TCHAIKOVSKY (M Winnaar) in stall gate 14 and were satisfied that this gelding had not been impeded in any way and took no further action. 
c)	ROD THE MOD (D Ashby) and ELUSIVE TRADER (R Fourie), which raced on the extreme outside of the racecourse as per their riders' riding instructions, tired quickly from the 350m.
d)	At the 100m SUN DAZED (G Wright), which was held up for a clear run, rolled out, brushed VELDSKOEN (AUS) (L Mxothwa) and then shifted in when steadied and made contact with CHAMPION WARRIOR (K de Melo).
e)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding TCHAIKOVSKY (M Winnaar), Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be 	advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
f)	RAGNAR LOTHBROK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PAW Botha was advised. (SC)
