Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LORD VARYS (Wes Marwing) was restless in the stalls and thereafter jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SMITH AND WESSON (*P Mxoli) was bumped inwards by LORD VARYS (Wes Marwing), which jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. Thereafter, Jockey Wes Marwing reported this gelding changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey Wes Marwing was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride LORD VARYS out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey Wes Marwing signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board was satisfied that Jockey Wes Marwing had not prejudiced his chance of obtaining fourth position. c) RAINBOW REWARD (N Klink), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) WINGS OF NIKE was ridden by Apprentice K A Brewer (declared 8 July 2023 at 12H10). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LORD VARYS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) PRINCEOFGREEN off feed (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
