Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly before the finish, VELVET SEASON (*S Hlengwa) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of CAMORA (*S Njokwe) which was carried out by FIERY DUKE (*R Venniker) which shifted out away from the crop from the 100m. As a consequence of this incident, Apprentice S Hlengwa was unable to assist VELVET SEASON to the end of the race. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into the above incident. However, after reviewing the patrol films, no further action was taken. b) Trainer F Robinson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5, in that he failed to vaccinate THE SNOW WAR against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) FIERY DUKE (*R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Badenhorst advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) THE SNOW WAR raced equipped with blinkers and without cheek pieces (advised 31.01.22/8h44). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) QUEST FOR THE BEST : Speedy cut right hind. SCRATCHINGS : a) VALENCIA : Swollen cheek (Trainer - 30.01.22/21h16).
