THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	CANFORD ICE (S Moodley) was difficult and stubborn to load. Trainer R A Hill was advised to re-school this gelding (SL).
 
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	At the 1500m, JOSHEPHINE'S PRIDE (M Yeni) was carried out by POWER STAR (R Fourie) which was switched out to avoid running onto the heels of DOUBLE RUGGED (C F Dicken).
b)	At the 1200m DOUBLE RUGGED (C F Dicken) and JOSHEPHINE'S PRIDE (M Yeni) which were both over-racing, came together and bumped.
c)	GALAXY EXPLORER (S Veale), which hung out in the final straight, and JET BUND (T Godden) came together and brushed on two occasions at the 250m and thereafter at the 200m.
d)	At the 200m, SWIFT NICKS (*S Hlengwa) had to switch out to avoid the tiring DOUBLE RUGGED (C F Dicken) to continue its run.
e)	In view of the performance of WARHAWK BOMBER (*R A Venniker) (12.30 lengths, 7/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f)	ZIN ZAN DAN (*T Mayhew) raced wide around the turn, without cover and into the straight.
g)	CANFORD ICE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R A Hill advised (BB).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)	Apprentice T Mayhew weighed out at 53.5kg, only claiming 2.5kg of his 3kg carded apprentice allowance.
