THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARCTIC WIZARD (G van Niekerk) was restless in the stalls and slow into stride. b) GEM KING (A Arries) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) THE ABDICATOR (IRE) (A Domeyer), which proved difficult, proceeded to the start via the back straight and was assisted by a Handler. Assistant Trainer E Steyn was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. b) In view of the performance of THE ABDICATOR (IRE) (A Domeyer), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) The Judge's reported that there was a technical issue with the official race time in Races 1 and 2. This was brought to the attention of the Racing Operator. d) NORDIC CHIEF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
