THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODSPEED (Wes Marwing) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi) hung out around the turn. b) GODSPEED (Wes Marwing) shifted out away from the crop from the 400m to the 200m. c) MABONENG (*R A Venniker) hung out in the concluding stages. d) In view of the performance of JUST BE NICE (*M K Katjedi), (distance 8,00 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Apprentice R A Venniker reported that she felt something amiss with MABONENG in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) KEY ELEMENT (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GODSPEED was ridden by Jockey Wes Marwing, who weighed out at 54,3kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight as declared (declared 1 August 2023 at 08H52). Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on GODSPEED, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer F Bronkhorst, which necessitated a change of Rider. Jockey D Schwarz signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
