THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODFATHER (C Maujean) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) Shortly after the start, PRINCE OF KILDARE (*M K Katjedi) and BLACK LIGHTNING (P Mxoli) came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KING'S EXPRESS (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) Leaving the 200m, AMERICAN BISCUIT (G Lerena) was directed outwards to obtain a clear run, when awkwardly placed on the heels of BLACK LIGHTNING (P Mxoli), which hung in from the 400m, and on the inside of GODFATHER (C Maujean), which was carried in marginally by NAPOLEON (C Zackey), which shifted in. Jockey C Zackey (NAPOLEON) appeared before the Board and was advised to take earlier corrective measures when shifting ground in races. c) NAPOLEON (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BLACK LIGHTNING was ridden by Jockey P Mxoli (declared 8 August 2023 at 08H52).
