THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DE JANIERO (A Andrews) was restless in the stalls. b) HEAR MY VOICE (R Fourie) turned its head to the side as the start was effected and was slow into stride. c) BENEATH THE MOON (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed as a result of the delay in the previous race. b) Approaching the 200m THE AGENTS MUSE (G Wright) was held up for a clear run behind a tiring DE JANIERO (A Andrews), was directed inwards and thereafter was unable to secure clear running until the finish. c) MISTY CLIFFS (C Zackey) was unable to secure clear running in the straight until leaving the 100m. d) LITTLE MISS PINK (B Fayd'Herbe) was hanging in in the latter stages. e) SENHORA VICTORIA (O Noach) and BENEATH THE MOON (C Bantam) brushed at the finish. f) In view of the performance of DE JANIERO (A Andrews), which tired quickly and was not persevered with from the 200m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) Trainer AE Sands was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.1.1, in that he declared Jockey M Winnaar to ride SUMMER NIGHT CITY without having obtained his prior consent, resulting in a change of rider. Stable Employee H Richardson, acting on behalf of Trainer AE Sands, signed an admission of guilt and Trainer AE Sands was fined R1 000.00. h) ENEMY TERRITORY (IRE), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
