Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GREEK MAFIA (+TG Mogalatladi) refused to jump as the start was effected and lost many lengths. b) BRIDGERTON (+S Liyaba) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) SEETHEBADGE (+E Thuthu), VALYRIAN SWORD (+A Kaspile) and MALDANO (+Si Ngqabuko) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to GREEK MAFIA (+TG Mogalatladi) in stall gate 2, were satisfied that this gelding had not been impeded in any way and took no further action. b) In view of the report from the starter regarding GREEK MAFIA (+TG Mogalatladi), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 02/09/2023 to 08/09/2023 inclusive). GREEK MAFIA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. c) When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of VALYRIAN SWORD (+A Kaspile) compared to this gelding's previous run on 4 August 2023 on the polytrack, Trainer E Kaknis said that this gelding had on that occasion been slow to begin and as a result had shown no interest in running. He further told the Stewards that this gelding may have been better suited to today's race on the turf track. His explanation was noted. d) Trainer K Mitchley was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that she failed to vaccinate SEETHEBADGE against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer K Mitchley signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. e) VALYRIAN SWORD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Kaknis was advised.
