THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISTER MONOCLE (JP van der Merwe) and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (B Fayd'Herbe) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (B Fayd'Herbe) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) Jockey A Andrews (SHAVOUT) dropped his crop approaching the 250m. c) MISTER MONOCLE (JP van der Merwe) raced onto the heels of FORGED BY FIRE (R Danielson) and had to be steadied at the finish. d) LE MANS (D Ashby) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) e) RULE OF THUMB, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
