Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TREXCELLENT (J Gates) stood losing five lengths. The starting stall certificate for this colt has been withdrawn. Trainer J S Roux was advised (GT).

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) TREXCELLENT (J Gates) proved reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led.
Trainer J S Roux was advised that should this colt behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended.
b) DUKE OF ROCK (*S Sosibo) shifted out significantly away from the crop from the 300m.
Apprentice S Sosibo appeared before the Board and was advised to take the necessary corrective measures sooner to keep his mounts straight in races.
Apprentice S Sosibo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of DUKE OF ROCK, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race.
Apprentice S Sosibo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2000 was imposed.
c) THERES A LIGHT (J R Syster) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages and was corrected shortly before the finish line.
d) Jockey R Danielson reported that he felt something amiss with TRIP TO STATES in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning TRIP TO STATES, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer C I Jonker was advised.
e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to TREXCELLENT, this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 15 September 2023 to 21 September 2023. TREXCELLENT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer J S Roux was advised.
f) DUKE OF ROCK (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

Apprentice S Sosibo has ridden his 40th winner and with effect from tomorrow, 15 September 2023, he will claim a 1,5kg apprentice allowance.
