Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LORD EDWARD (*R A Venniker) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 1100m, NDAKA (S Moodley) and MAGWINYA (C F Dicken) were carried out marginally by IMPARTIAL (A Mgudlwa) which rolled out. b) NORTHERN WARRIOR (*S Hlengwa) was hanging out around the turn. c) At approximately the 50m, QUANABI (C Habib) which had come to the end of its run, had to steady after being awkwardly placed between WINTER WAVES (M Yeni) which shifted in away from the crop and LAZY GUY (M Yeni) which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter, shortly before the finish LAZY GUY (C Zackey) was carried in marginally by WINTER WAVES (M Yeni) which shifted in marginally away from the crop. A race review was called into this incident by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Trainer D Campbell on behalf of the second placed horse LAZY GUY (C Zackey) against the winner WINTER GAMES (M Yeni) on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the patrol films of the Race and the evidence put forward by the respective parties during the Objection hearing, was of the opinion that the result had not been affected by this incident and that a portion of the carry onto LAZY GUY (C Zackey) occurred after the finish line and therefore over-ruled the Objection. The Judges' result was allowed to stand and Trainer D Campbell's deposit refunded. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with PANTEA in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) WINTER WAVES (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey C Maujean was the rider of PANTEA (advised 17.09.2023/08h58). b) Jockey R Fourie was the rider of INTREPID (advised 17.09.2023/08h14). c) ROY'S JULY MAGIC raced equipped with blinkers, without cheek pieces (advised 14.09.2023/11h39). d) Jockey K Matsunyane (OH MY WORD ITS ROY) weighed out at 52.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight.
