Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOFT TOUCH (C Maujean) and TRIP TO BARBERTON (S Khumalo) were stubborn loading. b) RESPECTABLE MISS (K Minnie) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow into stride. c) STATE OF MIND (C Zackey) was nervous, kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. d) SUGARBERRY (JP van der Merwe) and ON THE GUEST LIST (S Khathi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TRIP TO BARBERTON (S Khumalo) raced with an awkward head carriage in the early and middle stages. b) Approaching the 1600m GLOBAL AVENUE (R Khathi) was steadied and got its head up for a number of strides when racing tight on the inside of IZHIESTIA (E Webber). Jockey E Webber appeared before the Board and was advised to give more room to runners on his inside in similar circumstances. c) Leaving the 400m PUBLIC BENEFIT (M Yeni) and TRIP TO BARBERTON (S Khumalo) brushed. d) Leaving the 400m the shaft of Jockey M Mjoka's (CRAFTY HEART) crop broke, placing him at a disadvantage. e) Leaving the 150m HEY SIRI (L Mxothwa) was directed to the outside of KEEP THE FORT (A Domeyer) to continue its run. f) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.25 in that he conducted himself in an improper manner on racecourse property in that he made improper comments during a post-race interview. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000.00. g) KEEP THE FORT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
