THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, CANADIAN BOLT (*K Strydom) was buffeted for a number of strides between PATRONAGE (*R Venniker) and PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (S Veale). b) PARKTOWN (S Brown) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, at approximately the 200m, PARKTOWN (S Brown) which was hanging in badly from the 400m, had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of GENTLEMAN'S WAY (M Yeni). c) Jockey M Ntuli reported that TRATTORIA took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of WHITE CEDAR (S Khumalo) (6.40 lengths, 15/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) PATRONAGE (*R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
