THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER BARON (*K J Lihaba) and ULTRA QUICK (*S Hlengwa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the starting stalls WINTER BARON (*K J Lihaba) and THE PROPRIETOR (C Maujean) were squeezed out between WYLIE RILEY (A Mgudlwa), and ROMANCE IN ROME (T Godden) which jumped outwards. b) At the 1000m BEYONDTHEBOUNDARY (G Lerena) was inconvenienced on two occasions when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and the heels of MASTER JOSH (M Yeni). c) At the 700m DIANI (S Moodley) was inconvenienced on the outside of WINTER BARON (*K J Lihaba) which rolled out. d) At the 250m KUPHOLIWE (D Daniels) which was hanging in from the 300m, was switched in off the heels of SUPER FAST (N Patel). e) DIANI (S Moodley) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. f) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss in the running with THE PROPRIETOR. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) MASTER JOSH (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS).
