THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OH SO SQUISHY (*N Nastili), PETIT VERDOT (R Fourie) and LILLYBELLE (*R A Venniker) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) OH SO SQUISHY (*N Nastili) over-raced in the early and middle stages, proving difficult to restrain. b) Approaching the 600m OH SO SQUISHY (*N Nastili) ran onto and clipped the heels of AQUAE SULIS (*K J Lihaba) and stumbled. As a result, LILLYBELLE (*R A Venniker) was steadied and switched out. c) Shortly after entering the straight PETIT VERDOT (R Fourie) was baulked for a clear run for a number of strides. d) Leaving the 400m RECKLESS LOVE (C Habib) and GARDENIA (T Godden) came together and brushed. e) Leaving the 300m LILLYBELLE (*R A Venniker) which was hanging in from the 350m, was momentarily inconvenienced on the outside of THEAPPLEOFMYEYE (A Mgudlwa), which rolled out. f) In view of the performance of OH SO SQUISHY (*N Nastili) (15.85 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) PETIT VERDOT (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
