THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOREMI GORGE (C Zackey) and QUINQUEREME (A Domeyer) were squeezed out shortly after the start between FLASH LIGHTNING (C Bantam), which jumped awkwardly inwards and NAUSHON (B Fayd'Herbe), which jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m APACHE CHIEF (R Fourie) commenced to hang out and proved difficult to assist. b) Jockey A Arries reported that ROGUE MALE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) NAUSHON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised. (TJ) d) RUN RUDOLPH RUN, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
